Raiders Ranked in Top 10!!!

The season’s first coach’s and bowling writer’s polls were released recently. The coaches have voted both our men and women as the 8th best team in the nation!!! The bowling writers have the men in 4th place and the women in 7th place. Continuing our season of firsts, this is the first time that we have BOTH teams in the top ten of either poll at the same time and we did it in both. While the collegebowling.com point system rankings (men are 8th and women are 7th) we have are great, both these new rankings show the respect our program has earned from the coaches and writers across America. .

Earlier this year, the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore's athletic department posted this poll on its Web site: "Which winter team is most likely to win the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in their respective sport?" Sandwiched between women's basketball and men's track was women's bowling, which led all other choices with just less than 44 percent of the vote.

CLEVELAND, Ohio –– Bowling Green State University's women's basketball team, coached by Girard native Curt Miller, knocked off Akron 81-49 in the Mid-American Conference semifinal game at Quicken Loans Arena on Friday.

The team had a bowling competition before this season started.

Much like the annual turkey bowling contest, the Gallagher-inspired Sledge-O-Matic food hammer event and other zany antics spearheaded by a group of instructors at Glen Oaks Community College, the idea of assembling the world's largest meatball started out as a joke.
